The new carrier which will operate Airbus A320 and A330 aircraft will initially start operating services in January between Bangkok, Incheon(South Korea), Bhutan and Colombo in Sri Lanka using the A320 aircraft set in an all economy configuration.
Later in March 2011 A330 operations will commence with flights from Bangkok to Dubai and will have both business and economy seating.
The companies web site CrystalThaiAir.com which is not yet fully operational, also lists other destinations including Phuket, Cochin(India), Mumbai and Clark(Phillipines).
According to Aviation Week the airline will commence operations on 30th January on the Bangkok to Seoul Incheon route which seems to be a priority with a company spokeman saying:
“Many Thai people want to go to Korea, and many Koreans travel to Thailand.”A stated objective of the company is to become the third largest carrier in Thailand which I presume is somewhere behind Thai International Airways and Bangkok Airways but ahead of Air Asia. Heady ambitions for this fledgling airline and it will be interesting to see where the company is in 18 months time.
Given the stated date for commencing flight operations it would certainly be handy if the online booking system were operational . In the meantime however you can contact Crystal Thai Airlines as follows:
