Under very tight security, an arms shipment was received at the Utapao Military Airport on Friday Afternoon from Ukraine. Under tight reporting restrictions, we were permitted to film the exchange which resembled something out of a Hollywood movie. The Ilyushin Il-76 aircraft landed in the center of the tarmac and moments later two Armored Vehicles purchased by the Ministry of Defense were rolled off the back of the aircraft and handed over to defense officials. The initial order by the Ministry was for 96 of the armored vehicles in a deal worth over 4 Billion Baht with the German Government, however due to unknown problems, the deal was cancelled and the order was then made with Ukraine. This initial shipment of 2 vehicles will be trialed by the Thai Military and assuming they pass a string of tests, the rest of the order will soon arrive.
