Thai Airways International will begin the cargo freighter service with two Boeing 777-200LR F aircraft on March 27. Two weekly flights are planned for the Bangkok-Frankfurt route and one weekly flight for the Bangkok-Hong Kong-Amsterdam-Bangkok route.
THAI is the first carrier in Asia to deploy the big environmentally-friendly freighter aircraft. It can accommodate 102 metric tonnes of cargo and extensive door enables large shipments which need special care like live animals, dangerous goods, fresh produce like vegetables, fruits, flowers, and IT products that include computer chips and hard-disk parts.
THAI estimated that the freighter will increase total freight income to Bt24 billion, or 31 per cent in 2010, with a 53.6 per cent load factor.
